Céline Fall/Winter 2012/2013

Céline continues with the minimalistic oversize, the colours that repeats in the collection is black, white, turquoise, burgundy, orange, blue, pink and beige. In this fall/winter there are no capes included, but oversized coats in bright colours; quite different from the previous collection that had dark-coloured capes. The way they’ve used straight lines, squares and triangles makes the entire collection rather “sharp”.

A cream-white wool sweater and a pair of off-white pants with silver zippers on each leg. They’ve styled the oversized outfit with a scarf (in a triangle shape) and pointy high-heels (again, triangle shape!)

Notice the colourful stripes, they varie in size, making the thicker stripes looking like squares. The sweater is put together by a creamy wool fabric, turquoise furry fabric, an orange stripe that seems to be the same material as the pants and burgundy, white and marine-blue leather.

The material combinations are very special and odd, but somehow- Céline makes it work! The photo above is a perfect example of the fabric mix, and it looks quite good, right? The colour combination is also quite odd. They’ve used both warm colours as orange and beige, and mixed it with cold elements as metal, black leather and the colour blue. Included in the collection are the colourful furcoats, a quirky, exclusive extension/adding to the collection. Though the term special and odd has been mention a lot, another key-word for this collection is elegance. There’s just a vibe I get, the way Céline plays with minimalism and oversize-ness without leaving a complete mess as a result, but rather clean lines. Yes, the vibe- it is elegance.

Even with several bright colours, the fur coat isn’t near being tacky- it’s actually quite stylish.

Elegant Parisienne, oui oui! Definitely one of my favourites from the collection. Just look at the entire outfit: subtle elegance and playfulness shown through the material mix.

The outfits are accessorized with clutches. The two types that are showcased are one white, flat envelope clutch with a silver zip. Second one is a more puffy, fold-over hand purse and it comes in a leather and fur version. They’ve kept their shoes perfectly minimalistic, simple shapes and simple colours. All of the shoes are pointies, some of them have a french peep-toe. Of course there are some pairs that stand out, there’s the ankle boot with an edgy metal zip… but the shining star was the golden pointy heels with a thick heel. Just, looovely!

Shiny, dark blue and furry. Nude leather. Burgundy leather.

The french peep-toe ones and golden- definitely on my wishlist!

In conclusion, I expected the minimalism and oversize-ness. On the other hand, the material mixing, very unexpected! Absolutely genius though, it gives a twist to the expected. The accesorizes, there’s not much to say than what I’ve already mentioned- which was very positive. The clean lines made the outfits, but the details were just as much apart of it as the lines. All in all, I am very pleased with the collection- I dearly hope they keep up the great work!
